In the face of a dramatically growing tinnitus around the world, the main objective was and
remains an urgent confirmation of Acufree’s being an innovative, effective and radically different treatment based on a 3-way active elements combined into a “synchronous multimodal therapy”.
The number of 55 patients involved in this protocol is not large, but is considered statistically
significant in clinical biostatistics; broader research will follow, with other parameters, insights and specificities.
To reinforce the general statistical quality of the results it is worth specifying that the patients
were chosen with generic tinnitus, without profiling aimed at optimizing findings or benefits.
Clinical Trial with statistically significant results
Qualitative factors
These results confirm a very positive trend on all criteria of improvement of patients’ symptoms and quality of life:
- extent of improvement: average progress was 24% of total cases, with some peaks of improvement both on average (42% on positive cases), and on individual cases lowered to very mild tinnitus (THI below 10); these are significant improvements for a decidedly short treatment for this type of disease (only 8 active weeks);
- persistence of improvements over time: 12 months after treatment, the decline in
improvements is limited to 11% (from 24 to 21.6), a remarkable persistence of the relief; - favourable “quantitative” results: the discomfort perceived by the 50 patients treated decreased with all the verification criteria and control methods (THI, TFI, VAS, Hyperacusis, QoL: quality of life, Audiometry and Acuphenometry);
- Diversity of results: suitable for various types of tinnitus, even when already consolidated (e.g. 1 year or more)
- Ease-of-use (short sessions) and reliability of outcomes (anywhere: at home or mobile).
Conclusions
These results represent a significant progress in the therapeutic solutions available to Tinnitus patients and are obtained after a short protocol without personalized profile or adaptations.
We have no knowledge of other tinnitus therapies, in Italy or abroad, that have achieved higher levels of clinical improvement than these, based on actual results, verified by official protocol and performed by sources of medical excellence (Tor Vergata’s international medical foundation).
